Real Madrid and Bayern Munich will face off tonight at the Santiago Bernabeu in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie.
Ahead of kickoff in under two hours, Real Madrid boss Alvaro Arbeloa has announced the starting XI that will take the field. And there are some notable changes to the side that started at the weekend in the 2-1 loss to Mallorca.
For starters, superstar Vinicius Jr. reclaims his spot in the lineup, partnering with Kylian Mbappe at the top for Los Blancos. Brahim Diaz makes way.
Meanwhile, Federico Valverde also returns to the side after having missed the league game due to suspension. He slots in on the right flank while young Thiago Pitarch replaces Eduardo Camavinga on the left.
Aurelien Tchouameni and Arda Guler hold on to their places in the Real Madrid midfield unit, which means Jude Bellingham has been left out on the bench for the third game in a row.
At the back, Andriy Lunin continues in goal in Thibaut Courtois’ absence, shielded by the centre-back pairing of Antonio Rudiger and Dean Huijsen. Eder Militao remains on the bench.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alvaro Carreras continue as the full-backs for Real Madrid ahead of Dani Carvajal and Fran Garcia, respectively.
