Nico O’Reilly says there is plenty more to come as he finds his feet at senior level.

The six-foot, four inch 20-year-old has seamlessly transitioned into Pep Guardiola’s first team squad and penned a new contract to 2030 to highlight that progress.

The likeable youngster says he is grateful to the Club for the faith they are putting in him, the support of the City fans, but is promising this is just the start of his journey.

“I’m so happy, I feel really good to have signed this contract with this amazing club. It’s made my family proud and yeah; it’s an amazing day,” said O’Reilly.

“I’d just like to say thanks for all the support I’ve had so far, and there’s a lot more to come.

“Hopefully, I can keep [our fans] happy, win games, win lots of trophies and we’ll all be happy.”

It’s been a rollercoaster ride for O’Reilly, who only made his senior debut in the FA Community Shield in August 2024.

After that, he starred in our run to the FA Cup final, scoring his first goal against Salford, then a brace against Plymouth before coming on as a sub and assisting two goals in a 2-1 quarterfinal win away to Bournemouth – a game-changing cameo and a day he admits he will never forget.

At the end, his teammates pushed him to the front to acknowledge the reception he was getting from the travelling fans.

“I didn’t even know what to think at the time, but yeah, I loved it and obviously I hear all the chants and stuff and it’s such a good feeling,” he smiled.

“I’m just a kid from Manchester, and I grew up here, so to play for my boyhood club - my dream club – and hear the fans’ give me support like that, it means so much.”

“There’s a few local lads in the team and I’m glad I’m here, I’m glad the fans are showing the support they are, and it means so much.”

O’Reilly also admits he is enjoying a variety of roles in the City team.

Though he made a huge impression as an attacking midfielder with the Under-18s and EDS, he has been utilised in several positions, most recently left-back – and he has quickly found his feet wherever he has played.

“First of all, I’ve enjoyed it,” he said.

“It has been hard, adapting, but things are starting to click together and I’m starting to play the way I know I can play, but as I say, there still is a lot more to come.

“I grew up always being in the box, scoring goals, and it’s what I enjoy doing, so whenever I get an opportunity, I’m going to try and take them.

“Obviously, the way we play at City, I’m allowed to go high, I’m allowed to go inside and it’s a bit freer out wide, so as long as someone is in those positions, [and] the manager’s happy, there are definitely chances for me to get in those positions.”
