As he continues to recover from a hamstring injury, Ousmane Dembélé (28) has time to travel and bask in his Ballon d’Or glory a little longer.

On Sunday, the UEFA Champions League winner and World Cup champion will be recognised for his outstanding 2024-25 campaign by the town of Évreux. The Normandy town holds a significant place in Dembélé’s heart as that was his first football club. He will be honoured at the Town Hall this weekend.

He’ll receive a medal from the town for his achievements and is also expected to be at Mathieu Bodmer Stadium, the home field of Évreux FC. It was Dembélé’s performances there which caught the attention of scouts at Stade Rennais, who brought him over to Brittany in 2014.

Évreux has a long history with French internationals past and present, with Dayot Upamecano (26), Steve Mandanda, Mathieu Bodmer, and Bernard Mendy all previously featuring at that club.

PSG’s next match is on October 17 in Ligue 1 against RC Strasbourg. Les Bleus, meanwhile, play a pair of World Cup qualifiers against Azerbaijan on October 10 and Iceland on October 13.

Last month, Dembélé became the sixth French player to capture the Ballon d’Or.
