Palmeiras line-up: Abel Ferreira set to stick with side that beat Vasco

Palmeiras wrapped up their preparations for the derby against São Paulo on Saturday morning (04) at the Football Academy. The match will take place this Sunday (05) at 4:00 PM at Morumbis, for the 27th round of the Brazilian Championship. In the first round, at Arena Barueri, Verdão came out on top and won 1-0, with a goal by forward Vitor Roque.

How was the training session?

The activity began with a video presentation prepared by the coaching staff. After physical activation, the players participated in technical and tactical drills with specific dynamics, followed by a relaxed recreational session. In the final part, some athletes practiced set pieces, finishing, and penalty kicks. Paulinho, Khellven, and Lucas Evangelista followed an internal schedule at the excellence center, under the care of the Health and Performance Unit.

Currently second in the Brasileirão, with 52 points and games in hand, Palmeiras comes in riding impressive away numbers. Counting all 2025 competitions, Alviverde is one of the first division clubs with the most away wins in the world: 18, tied with Paris Saint-Germain (FRA). Right behind are Celje (SLO) with 17, and Barcelona (ESP), Galatasaray (TUR), and Flamengo, all with 16.

Nationally, Abel Ferreira’s team also leads the main away statistics this season. They have the best performance rate in Série A (74.07% in 27 games, with 18 wins, 6 draws, and only 3 losses), as well as the most efficient away attack: an average of 1.81 goals per match, compared to Flamengo’s 1.59. Verdão also scored in 24 of their 27 away games, leading with 88.89%.

In the Choque-Rei, the recent record also favors the Palmeiras side. Palmeiras are unbeaten in eight matches against their rivals (four wins and four draws since their last loss, in July 2023, in the Copa do Brasil). Specifically at Morumbis, in the Brasileirão, they are unbeaten in seven games (three wins and four draws since 2017). This is the third longest unbeaten streak in the history of the derby: only behind the 17-match unbeaten run by Alviverde between 1974 and 1999 and São Paulo’s 13-match streak between 2004 and 2017.
