Paredes is out with a left calf contusion, the main change in Valverde’s 24-man squad for tomorrow’s match at San Mamés against Barcelona at 21:00.

The club said in a statement that the injury, first outlined by Valverde in his pre-match press conference, was sustained by the centre-back in Wednesday’s Copa semi-final at Anoeta against Real Sociedad.

Paredes will be monitored and his place in the squad goes to reserve-team midfielder Eder García.

Also sidelined for another game are the injured Nico Williams, Prados, Sannnadi and Egiluz, plus the suspended Yeray, who is available from 2 April.

Monreal returns to the list amid problems in the centre of defence, and with 24 named one player will have to be left out on matchday.
