Paris FC could sign Diego Coppola as striker hunt goes on | OneFootball

Paris FC could sign Brighton’s Italian defender Diego Coppola, with their search for a centre-forward still unresolved.

According to L'Équipe, the Neal Maupay option has cooled, with the forward instead heading for Sevilla FC. Three Paris FC executives, including Stéphane Gilli, met him last week, though there was not full internal backing.

The winter window enters its final stretch on Tuesday and closes in a week. Paris FC still hope to add a more clinical finisher.

Jean-Philippe Krasso and Willem Geubbels have two and three Ligue 1 goals so far. A 0-0 draw against Angers on Sunday underlined the issue. Ilan Kebbal, a midfielder, is their top league scorer on seven.

The promoted club sounded out several alternatives. Brest will not part with Ludovic Ajorque, while Angevin forward Sidiki Chérif favours England if he moves. Contact was also made with Edin Dzeko, a friend of Gilli, but he chose Schalke 04 in Bundesliga 2, with the March 2026 World Cup qualifying play-off his short-term target.

Paris FC have brought in Luca Koleosho on loan from Burnley, and the youngster has delivered three good outings, scoring the winner at Nantes in a 2-1 victory eight days ago. He is a winger, not a number nine.

With Samir Chergui out until at least late February after returning injured from AFCON, and a successful switch to a back five since the start of the year, defensive cover looks sensible. Coppola, 22, could be that addition, though talks have also taken place with Olympiakos defender Giulian Biancone. The Coppola deal is moving, his price is considered high, and a loan signing could arrive this week, but caution remains.
