It is not ruled out that Barcelona make at least one big-money sale before the summer transfer window closes. The likes of Jules Kounde and Marc Casado have been linked with exits, but at this stage, the player most likely to depart is Ferran Torres.
After scoring the winning goal in the 2026 World Cup final as Spain defeated Argentina, Torres’ summer could be set to take another twist in the coming weeks. Barcelona want him to stay, but they will not stand in his way if he decides to leave – especially as they do not want to lose him for free in 2027 when his current contract is due to expire.
Several clubs are keeping tabs on Torres’ situation, but the favourites to sign him at this stage are Paris Saint-Germain. Luis Enrique is keen to be reunited with the 26-year-old, whom he previously managed at international level, although he and the reigning European champions are keen for the situation to be defined as soon as possible.
As per Sport, PSG are urging Torres to define his future as soon as possible. They will make an approach to Barcelona if they are given encouragement, but while the situation is open, they are not prepared to make their move.
PSG’s insistence with Torres does make sense, given that they were recently burned with Yan Diomande. The 19-year-old, who was on Barcelona’s radar earlier in the summer, had been destined to head to Paris before Real Madrid swooped in, and they do not want a repeat with “El Tiburon”.
The next few days could be crucial to understanding whether Torres will leave Barcelona this summer. An exit would be a big blow for the Catalans, given that they are already one striker down after Robert Lewandowski left in July upon the expiry of his contract.
