Emiliano Martínez and Piquerez have become the first Palmeiras players to finish their World Cup campaigns and are expected to receive time off before rejoining the club, according to Globo.com.

Uruguay went out after a 1-0 defeat by Spain on Friday, finishing third in Group H. They also drew with Saudi Arabia and Cape Verde, exiting early as in the last edition.

The camp fractured, with a rebellion against Marcelo Bielsa reported locally on the eve of the final group game. Neither Martínez nor Piquerez were implicated.

Both were overlooked by Bielsa and did not play a minute at what was the first World Cup of their careers.

Piquerez had raced back from ankle ligament surgery after a March injury in the final FIFA window before the tournament. Palmeiras even allowed him to report early to accelerate his physical transition.

It did not pay off, with Viña starting against Saudi Arabia and Sanabria beginning the other two fixtures.

The pair can now return to training once their leave ends, with no date yet set.

That mirrors Giay's case, after time with Argentina's squad he was given a few days' holiday and is due at the Academia de Futebol early this week.

This season Piquerez has played 16 games for Palmeiras with two assists. Martínez has one more appearance and no direct goal involvements.
