Plata returned for Flamengo with Leonardo Jardim’s backing, while Arrascaeta acknowledged the forward had made mistakes. According to Globo.com, the Ecuadorian retains support inside the squad.

He had complained of pain in recent weeks, though no injury was found. Omitted against Corinthians for technical reasons, he then started twice for Ecuador and, at 35 minutes of the second half against Santos, came on and set up Lucas Paquetá in the win.

Arrascaeta said the group value Plata’s talent, accepted irritation over some errors, and urged patience, noting media pressure can be uneven. Plata had trained below par and his behaviour had raised concern, and he deleted club photos from social media and unfollowed the official account.

Jardim said Plata was not fully integrated earlier, that two strong displays with the national team helped, and that he is now fitting in better. He counts on the winger’s quality and intensity, seeing him as important with proper guidance.

Paquetá said any board issues are for the club and admitted he does not know every detail. He called Plata a winner and an idol, insisted errors must be addressed, and stressed the squad rely on him.

Flamengo are evaluating a transfer for Plata after the World Cup. He has played 77 matches, with 50 starts and 27 substitute appearances, scoring eight and assisting 11.
