Manchester City take on Marco Silva’s Fulham in their final game of the 2024/25 Premier League season on Sunday afternoon.
Last time out saw Pep Guardiola’s side record a crucial three points via victory over Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium, as a 3-1 win over the Cherries moved them to within just a single point of UEFA Champions League football next season.
An emotional night at the Etihad Stadium also saw Manchester City’s home faithful bid farewell to Kevin De Bruyne after 10 years at the club, with this weekend expected to mark his final game in Sky Blue amid doubts over his FIFA Club World Cup availability.
While Fulham have nothing to play for in terms of their chances of reaching a European place for next season, Marco Silva and his players will still want to give their fans plenty to cheer about on the final day of the campaign, and particularly closing out a season at home.
Pep Guardiola has been boosted significantly by a full strength squad in recent weeks and is only expected to be without John Stones in West London this weekend, with Rodri making his long-awaited return to on-field action on Tuesday night.
Ahead of Manchester City’s upcoming and final Premier League clash of the season against Fulham, here is how we predict Pep Guardiola will line-up his side at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon!
Starting off with the usual guarantee between the posts for a Premier League match when all options are fit and available, and that sees Ederson as our name in goal for Manchester City on Sunday.
In at right-back and we think it could be another start for Matheus Nunes, in a role that the Portugal international has largely made his own following the departure of Kyle Walker to AC Milan in the January window.
That could see Manuel Akanji shifting into the centre of defence as he has done in the last few weeks since returning from injury, likely partnering Ruben Dias once more for Pep Guardiola’s side.
While Nico O’Reilly has no doubt been a revelation since emerging as a left-back solution during the second-half of the season, there is often no competing with Josko Gvardiol when the Croatian is required on the left-hand side of the rearguard.
With Mateo Kovacic suspended following his straight red card against Bournemouth on Tuesday night, we could see a start for Nico at the base of midfield complimented by Ilkay Gundogan, as the pairing will likely interchange between defence and attack.
That base should then allow for a free-role to be taken on by Kevin De Bruyne, as we believe the Belgium international will close out his Manchester City career with a starting berth in attacking midfield and the captain’s armband.
That moves us on to the front-three, and having scored on Tuesday night with an overall impressive showing, we think Bernardo Silva could once again be given the nod by Pep Guardiola ahead of the likes of Phil Foden and Savinho on the right of attack.
Erling Haaland will start up-front.
And finalising our predicted line-up, following on from his goal of the season contender against Bournemouth, we think Omar Marmoush could once again start for Manchester City as part of their goalscoring threat.
Starting XI: Ederson; Nunes, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol; Nico, Gundogan, De Bruyne (C); Bernardo, Haaland, Marmoush.
Substitutes: Ortega Moreno, Lewis, Khusanov, O’Reilly, Rodri, Echeverri, Foden, Savinho, Doku.
