Sheffield Wed. and Coventry City clash this Saturday at the Hillsborough Stadium for matchweek nine of the EFL Championship. The match will be broadcast live at 12:30 on Sky Sports +.
Sheffield Wed. currently have 6 points and lie in 23rd position. In their last outing, Henrik Pedersen's team drew 2-2 against Birmingham City (EFL Championship 2025/26).
Coventry City currently have 16 points and lie in 2nd position. In their last match, Frank Lampard's team prevailed 0-4 against Millwall (EFL Championship 2025/26).
The last meeting between the two teams ended with Coventry City winning 2-1.
Ross Cooper (SkyBlues Extra): Well well well, I for one was not expecting to thump Millwall away 4-0 at the Den on Wednesday evening but thump them we did with a brace from Haji Wright. It means this three game week has yielded 6 points and we could make it a hattrick and a perfect week with victory against Sheffield Wednesday this weekend in the early kick off TV game.
I mean there are so many positives, another clean sheet is brilliant and that makes it three on the bounce, and ofcourse the goal scoring power we possess again took centre stage. 7 goals score din our last two games means we have scored 22 goals this season, by far the most in the division and has certainly got opposition fans and teams taking notice.
We have a great opportunity against Sheffield Wednesday to go into the international break with real momentum and it is going to require a huge effort from the squad due to the incredibly tight turnaround from the Millwall game going into Saturday, but with a 2 week break on the horizon hopefully Lampard can freshen the team up as much as possible to give us as good a chance to get the win as possible.
Our squad is thin and we are starting to a accumulate a few injuries, with Jack Rudoni certainly out and Victor Torp is a doubt after being taken off early in the second half against Millwall, and without both of them that is a huge creative void that needs filling.
The good news is Mason-Clarke being back in the squad and he may well be needed after the exertions put in against Millwall.
Obviously Sheffield Wednesday are having a torri time off the pitch and it is something we Coventry fans know ourselves all too well and can relate too.
But the players have performed well and this game has all the hallmarks of a banana skin game with our lack of depth and recovery.
Prediction: 1-3
