According to Diario Vasco, the Public Prosecutor’s Office has shelved a criminal investigation opened after complaints from two environmental groups over the alleged illegality of vehicle access to Xabi Alonso’s villa in Igeldo.
The case focused on the access to the property that the groups contested as unlawful. Prosecutors have ended that line of inquiry.

The wider dispute remains before the courts. Judges still need to rule on the legality of the building licence for the house.
That licence was appealed, and a decision has yet to be made.
The prosecutorial move concerns only the access issue, while the permit’s legality will be determined in court.
