Barcelona face Paris Saint-Germain next week in the Champions League, with both teams suffering significant injuries. While Barcelona received confirmation they would be missing two starters on Wednesday night, PSG have their own injury issues hampering them.

Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele was already a major doubt for the clash after picking up an injury on France duty earlier this month. However Luis Enrique may be without three more of his starters.

Marquinhos is the latest PSG injury

As reported by Marca, Marquinhos missed training on Friday morning, and has a quadriceps injury. He will miss their weekend clash with Auxerre, but is also a doubt for their trip to Montjuic. Marquinhos was dealing with the injury on Monday during PSG’s 1-0 defeat to Olympique Marseille, but now they say the likelihood is that he will be out of their Champions League duties next week.

Their captain joins Dembele, Desire Doue and Joao Neves on the sidelines. All four were starters for Luis Enrique in the Champions League final last May, and it appears they will be absent against Barcelona.

“I’m not worried. This is the highest level. There are a lot of injuries, but we can count on the players at the Campus. It’s important for them and for us,” Luis Enrique told the press. Regarding Marquinhos, he commented that “he felt a little pain. Nothing serious, but we have to be careful and not take any risks.”

Barcelona receive double blow

Barcelona knew they would be without Fermin Lopez, Gavi and Marc-Andre ter Stegen for their clash with PSG, but on Friday received two significant blows. Raphinha exited their clash with Real Oviedo on Thursday night, and has now been ruled out for three weeks. Much worse, starting goalkeeper Joan Garcia will also miss out, and he is set for longer on the sidelines, with knee surgery scheduled for Saturday morning.
