Kylian Mbappé’s arrival at Real Madrid has reshaped the dynamic among the team’s wingers, leaving others further down the pecking order. From the start, there were questions about whether the French star’s presence might complicate playing time for the rest of the group.
The 2024-25 season has been a mixed bag for the Spanish club, with its share of ups and downs in their first year with Mbappé. But looking ahead, will this setup stick beyond the current campaign? When the summer transfer window opens, could one player start considering a future elsewhere?
With Mbappé and Vinicius Jr. firmly established as the focal points of Real Madrid’s attack, Rodrygo might find himself struggling to carve out a significant role.

Journalist Abdellah Boulma reports that PSG are keen on signing Rodrygo and plans to pursue the Brazilian this summer if he shows any willingness to leave Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, Liverpool might be in the market for a top-tier winger next summer, with Mohamed Salah yet to commit to a contract extension. The Premier League club could be preparing for life without their star forward.
Former Liverpool player Daniel Murphy has urged the Reds to consider targeting Real Madrid’s Rodrygo as a potential replacement for Salah in 2025.
“If Liverpool wanted one player to replace Mohamed Salah, the obvious choice for me would be Rodrygo from Real Madrid,” Murphy said. “I think he’s a wonderful talent. I don’t know what his contract situation is in Madrid, but I think of him because we’ve seeing him play at the highest level and winning Champions Leagues in the last couple of years.
“His numbers aren’t like Salah’s but he’s a match winner. He can beat people, he’s quick, he’s playing in an environment where he’s playing under huge pressure every week and dealing with it. Additionally they’ve got so many talented players at Real Madrid that maybe there is room for one of them to leave. So that would be the obvious standout for me.”
As for the potential transfer fee, Transfermarkt puts the Brazilian’s possible cost at €100 million.
