Sunderland’s psychic pony has backed against England, predicting defeat to Mexico in the World Cup last 16.

According to Sunderland Echo, Penshaw’s Princess, a 19-year-old Shetland pony, had correctly called the wins over Panama and Congo for Thomas Tuchel’s team.

Before Monday, July 6 in Mexico City, the latest pick took place at Penshaw Equestrian Centre, where she was offered two labelled feed bowls, win or lose, and chose lose.

Supporters will hope she is off target and Tuchel’s side prove her wrong on Monday morning.

Kick-off is at 1am UK time, with pubs across Sunderland expected to screen the match after the Government permitted opening until 5am.
