Puche header lifts Arouca into 10th

Arouca beat Moreirense 1-0 in Moreira de Cónegos as Miguel Puche struck after the break to lift the visitors from 13th to 10th in Liga Portugal.

Puche headed in from close range in the 67th minute, the substitute having replaced the injured Dylan Nandín shortly after the restart.

Ignacio de Arruabarrena denied Mateja Stjepanović early on and then pushed aside Nile John's drive. After the restart, André Ferreira tipped Nandín's effort behind.

The visitors found momentum down the left after the change, with Nais Djouahra's crossing repeatedly asking questions before Puche made the difference.

Landerson struck the post late on but Arouca held firm through a lengthy spell of stoppage time.

Arouca registered 14 attempts and won seven corners as their pressure grew. Moreirense finished with seven attempts.

Moreirense remain eighth. Next, Moreirense host Braga. Arouca welcome Estoril.
