With Christian Pulisic’s error in the draw against Juventus, Milan confirmed themselves as the worst penalty takers in Europe, failing in seven of the last 13 Serie A attempts.

The Rossoneri were held to a 0-0 draw in Turin on Sunday evening and the best opportunity was a penalty, which Pulisic ballooned over the crossbar.

Curiously, the USMNT star had a perfect record from the spot in his career until coming to San Siro, where he has now missed two, having already failed in the 2-1 defeat to Torino in February 2025.

AC Milan penalty problem is endemic

Pulisic represents just the latest to fail for the club, as it is becoming an endemic problem for anyone who takes that responsibility.

Since the beginning of 2024, they missed seven of the 13 Serie A penalties awarded to the team.

Most notably, the last five that didn’t go in were taken by four different players.

The low point was their 2-1 defeat to Fiorentina last year when both Theo Hernandez and Tammy Abraham were denied by David De Gea, despite the fact neither of them were meant to step up.

Pulisic has since missed two, around a Santiago Gimenez attempt parried by Napoli’s Alex Meret in March 2025.

In the games where those last five penalties were missed, the team emerged with one point, showing how crucial the mistakes proved to be.

Looking throughout the current squad, it’s not easy to see alternatives to Pulisic, because Luka Modric missed six out of 30 in his career, while Gimenez failed to convert five out of 20.

Adrien Rabiot has never even converted a penalty.
