Randal Kolo Muani can attribute his place in the France squad during the current international break to the credit that he has accrued in the past. For what he has done with the national team, Didier Deschamps trusts the Tottenham Hotspur forward, despite his difficulties at club level this season.
However, that credit may not be starting to run out. As reported by L’Équipe, had Bradley Barcola not suffered an injury just before the international break (while playing for Paris Saint-Germain against Chelsea), Kolo Muani “almost certainly” would not have been called into the squad.
The Tottenham Hotspur loanee needed to use his minutes to impress. He did not come on at all during the 2-1 win over Brazil on Thursday night. He came on for the final 30 minutes of Sunday evening’s 3-1 win over Colombia, but it was an error-strewn display. L’Équipe report that, unless there are injuries in his sector, Kolo Muani is highly unlikely to go to this summer’s World Cup.
