Rangers to spend better and learn lessons of the past

There was a bit of a reaction from some quarters yesterday to our article on Danilo. Some disagreed with the weekly wages that we reported that he has. However, we can confirm that they are true. Some also disagreed with the £6M transfer fee. That figure is widely known to be correct. The biggest point raised from some very angry individuals was that this report seemned to infer we were a tim site because Rangers waste on Danilo.
This is not a new accusation aimed at Ibrox Noise. We cover all sides of our club. That includes the good, the bad, and the ugly. The reality is that this article was meant to imply something else. While it painted a picture of a terrible deal, it showed things are being run better now.
We do not think on any level that the club will waste cash on absolute rubbish like Danilo going forward. Kevin Thelwell clearly did so. He signed a pile of junk last summer. The difference now between past and present is simple. Rangers actually do have the cash to ‘waste’ now. We didn’t before.
We now have financial backing from 49ers Enterprises with big funds available. Obviously, spending will remain within FFP and legislation. Rangers will not spend money that we do not have anymore. We will not waste cash we do not have on the likes of Danilo.
That boy has cost us £11 million. He did not pick the price. Furthermore his agents sure as heck secured the wage. That was our point. We were done in the past. We appear to be run better now to avoid that in future.
We do not think we will see overinflated deals like that again. There is debate about how good 49ers Enterprises are. Nevertheless, they have big cash. They can afford to fund this properly. Rangers were done on that deal years ago. Whether fans like it or not, we were done.
It is not the only time we have been done. Many millions were lost in the past. Look at Sam Lammers. We signed him for around £4M under Beale. We sold him for £200,000. That summer, total profit from signings was £850,000. This was announced by ex-chairman John Bennett at that AGM. Fans could not believe it. It was true. And Rangers waste on Danilo.
Moreover while things were not great as reflected in that report, we hope to cut him loose. We also hope to never see that waste again. Sadly, Kevin Thelwell tried to repeat it last summer. We think that is unlikely to happen again with him gone. This is especially true if recent news about two new bids is correct. They look far better than the rubbish we wasted cash on recently.
