Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys was entertained to an early kickoff in Barcelona’s European game on Tuesday as the Catalans took on Benfica in the second leg of their Round of 16 clash.
Hansi Flick’s side entered the game with a one-goal advantage courtesy of Raphinha’s glorious strike in the first leg but still had it all to do over 90 more minutes.
Raphinha opened the scoring on the night once more off a Lamine Yamal assist but the visitors equalised almost immediately to gift themselves another lifeline.
A stunning Yamal finish and a second Raphinha strike, however, took the wind out of Benfica’s sails before half-time and Barcelona comfortably cruised to the quarterfinal of the competition.

After a masterclass against the same opposition last week, the Polish goalkeeper again stood tall whenever called into action against Benfica. Got a glove to Benfica’s first goal of the tie but could not keep it out.
The youngster is slowly making a case for him to be proclaimed as the best in the world in his position and last night only furthered that propaganda.
Balde was a nightmare for Benfica, especially with his searing pace on the counterattack and tight dribbles. Created Raphinha’s second goal of the night by initiating the rapid counterattack.

A sound performance from the Spaniard who lunged in for multiple crucial interceptions to deny Benfica chances in front of the goal.
Was good with his distribution and took a bulk of that load given Pau Cubarsi’s absence.
The Uruguayan showed good improvement in terms of holding the offside trap and did not hesitate in jumping into the required rough tackles.
Dished out a largely solid performance barring Benfica’s opening goal which he should have done better to mark Nicolas Otamendi for.
The right-back had another solid performance in both defence and attack. He combined beautifully with Yamal and constantly pushed forward in attack while also keeping the dangerous Andreas Schjelderup under control.
Barcelona’s engine was again firing on all cylinders at Montjuic and the youngster shone in wriggling out of high-pressure situations.
The Canary Islander was at the heart of every Barcelona attack, controlled the tempo of the game and once again dictated the play.

Chosen ahead of Marc Casado for the big night, the Dutchman showed why Hansi Flick prefers his services when he is in full flow.
De Jong was solid in possession, carried the ball forward time and time again, and did not slack out in carrying out his defensive responsibilities to the T.
A slightly off-evening for Olmo who never really got going in the second leg. While the Spaniard did not do anything blatantly wrong, he looked slightly out of his element in front of goal. Nevertheless, his distribution and link-up play were largely on point.
Another extra-terrestrial performance from Barcelona’s Golden Boy winner who continues to defy logic.
The youngster was at the heart of Barcelona’s attack last night and will leave Benfica with horrors of his quality on the right flank.
Yamal created the first goal out of nothing with a stunning dribble past half of the Benfica defence. He then scored his own goal with a peach of a finish that may well be one of the goals of the season.

Raphinha is closing in on a historic UEFA Champions League season as he once again haunted Benfica. At this point, he may well be Bruno Lage’s side’s biggest horror.
Opened the scoring with a simple finish off Yamal’s assist but completed his brace before half-time with a stunning strike.
Was a pioneering presence in the final third through the second half and should have finished the game with a few assists to his name.
The Polish striker did not have the best of evenings as he struggled to keep up with the tempo of the game on a physical level.
Had some great chances to find the back of the net in the first half but could not capitalise on them to get his name on the scoresheet.
