RB Leipzig in pole position for PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko – Bayer Leverkusen pull out of the race | OneFootball

Sky Germany reports that RB Leipzig are now in pole position for PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko.

Talks are said to be advanced, despite interest from Bayer Leverkusen in the winger, who has yet to reach a verbal agreement with the 22-year-old. Other sources had indicated that die Werkself were the team in pole position, but they have now pulled out of the deal.

Kicker reported at the weekend that PSV had received an offer from one of the potential suitors of Bakayoko, considering the recent news, it is likely that the club is Leipzig.

The winger has not returned to preseason training for PSV, and it is clear that a transfer to Leipzig will be completed soon for around €20m.

Leverkusen will now turn its focus to another winger as it looks to overhaul its attack. Die Werkself will also look to sign a number 10.

Is this the right move?

Considering, Leverkusen were in the Champions League and RB Leipzig are not in European football at all, this seems like an odd move for Bakayoko. When it comes to their prospects of success next season, Leverkusen are again in a better position than Leipzig.

On top of this, the futures of Xavi Simons and Benjamin Seško are still uncertain, meaning they could very well still be at the club next season, with Antonio Nusa also there, the attack at the Red Bull Arena will be crowded.
