The Nuevo Santiago Bernabeu is one of the best modern-day stadiums and acts as a major source of revenue for Real Madrid.

Boasting state-of-the-art facilities, Real Madrid’s iconic stadium has the capability to host NFL matches and music concerts, helping the club generate significant income. Simply putting, it has become much more than a football stadium.

Real Madrid expect more than €400 million this season

In fact, according to AS, Real Madrid expect to generate more than €400 million in revenue from the Santiago Bernabeu this season.

Breaking that barrier is the objective for the current financial year, and everything is progressing very positively.

The stadium tour, events, catering and, in the near future, concerts are the pillars of this strategy. They form the basis of a model designed to secure the club’s long-term future.

Real Madrid forecast total revenue of €1.248 billion this season, a 5% increase compared to the previous campaign (€1.185 billion).

The largest share of projected income comes from marketing, with €539.9 million, boosted significantly by the arrival of major partners such as HP.

Close behind is the exploitation of the Bernabeu, with expected revenue of €402.5 million. These two areas combined will account for more than 75% of the club’s total income.

Focusing specifically on the stadium business, the scope is wide. Last season, revenue generated solely from activities located within the stadium, excluding matchday ticket sales and VIP areas linked to matches, reached €79.1 million.

The breakdown was as follows: the Tour (€52.6 million), events and concerts (€15.4 million) and catering (€10.3 million). These were already outstanding figures, achieved without the stadium being fully operational, although it was close.

Even without full operation in all areas, some activities continue to grow strongly. The club estimates that Tour revenues will increase by 31% this season, pushing well beyond the €50 million threshold.

Added to this are the catering spaces, such as the Bernabéu Market, which, together with KŌ by 99 Sushi Bar and the Mahou area, have proven to be a clear success.

The flagship project, the SkyBar, has yet to open, but even without it the impact on revenue has been significant. This growth is further supported by the expansion of VIP areas and the hosting of international events.

More to come

Real Madrid continue to work on soundproofing the stadium, with the aim of allowing concerts to return in the near future.

At the same time, progress is being made on the “Bernabéu Infinito” project, an ambitious technological partnership with Apple that is expected to open “another dimension”.

The plan is to allow fans to experience the stadium and Real Madrid through state-of-the-art virtual reality headsets.

These are the next steps for a venue that has become a major revenue engine, targeting the €400 million mark and designed to secure the club’s future.
