The brass at La Liga giants Real Madrid have earmarked a pair of Premier League stars as leading targets to add to the club’s backline.
That’s according to Marca, who point towards William Saliba and Ibrahima Konaté as the pair in question.
It is of course common knowledge at this point that the brass at the Santiago Bernabéu are eyeing reinforcements to the heart of the club’s defence.
With David Alaba continuing to struggle for fitness, and Antonio Rüdiger getting on in years, Real Madrid are keen to land a top-class central defender either this summer or next.
And with as much in mind, Los Blancos consider the aforementioned pairing of Saliba and Konaté as the ideal profiles.
Both players currently find themselves in precarious contract situations, with the former’s Arsenal terms due to expire in 2027, and Konaté’s Liverpool deal in just 12 months’ time.
Florentino Pérez and co. are therefore weighing up moves for both players, albeit in the knowledge that only one would be likely to arrive.
