Real Madrid are perpetually in an effort to upgrade their squad, and the scouting department still continues to look out for good market opportunities the club can capitalise on.

As relayed in a recent report by Real Madrid Confidencial, the club have their eyes on Juventus’ Khephren Thuram, now as a valuable player who can add physicality and quality to their midfield in the long run.

In fact, the report furthers that Real Madrid already know the asking price of the player and that they will have the portfolio ready to sign he player, so their proposal will be considered.

Competition is strong

As furthered by the outlet, Juventus are open to selling the player and have set an asking price of €70 million for the 24-year-old midfielder – a fee that Real Madrid are not opposed to, given that they have the financial capability to stretch that much.

Given that Thuram’s current contract runs until 2029, there is not much room for leverage, and Real Madrid cannot look to get that number down significantly.

Another factor that complicates the transfer is the interest from Liverpool, who also hold a serious interest in the player.

Given their disastrous season so far, the Reds are also willing to break the bank for his services.

The situation for Real Madrid to sign the Frenchman, thus, remains unclear as it stands, and the saga is expected to heat up as the transfer window nears.

Needless to say, a lot will depend on how the current midfield holds up for the remainder of this season.

So far this campaign, Thuram has made seven Serie A appearances and has one goal and one assist to his name. He has averaged close to two shots and over eight defensive actions every 90 minutes.
