As Real Madrid gear up for a busy summer ahead, one of the club’s priorities will be to bring in fresh defenders.
The club have already scrapped plans to sign a new forward, in favour of reinforcing their ranks in the defensive unit. To that end, Real Madrid have been offered a glorious opportunity to sign one of Premier League’s most sought-after defenders.
According to Diario AS, Real Madrid have been offered the chance to sign Josko Gvardiol heading into the summer transfer window.

The Croatian international is considered one of the top-rated defenders in the Premier League. However, he has struggled with injuries in the recent past, having yet to make a single appearance since undergoing surgery earlier in the year.
This has put question marks on his long-term future at Man City, with his agents now exploring potential options elsewhere.
Real Madrid have yet to hold talks with Gvardiol, but it is believed that Santiago Bernabeu is one of the favoured destinations for the player.
Real Madrid themselves are well aware of Gvardiol, having tracked him since his days at Dinamo Zagreb. They were even interested in making a move earlier in the summer.

Acquiring the services of Gvardiol can be a boon for Real Madrid, as the Croatian can be an excellent option at centre back alongside either Eder Militao or Dean Huijsen.
Moreover, the Premier League star is a versatile operator and can play as a left-back, which could come in handy at a time when both Fran Garcia and Alvaro Carreras have failed to inspire confidence.
On top of that, Ferland Mendy faces an uncertain future at Real Madrid, marred by injuries and a seemingly complicated contract that may end up blocking his exit.
Signing Gvardiol, though, will not be a walk in the park and the Man City star could command a serious valuation.
