Real Madrid have emerged as the strongest opposition to La Liga president Javier Tebas’ plans to play a league game overseas.
Plans are firmly in place for the game between Villarreal and Barcelona to be played in Miami, USA, on 20 December, but Los Blancos are firmly against the proposal and are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to bring a halt to the venture.
Senior players like Dani Carvajal and Thibaut Courtois have voiced concerns about how the move would adulterate the competition.
Moreover, as reported earlier today, Real Madrid have also written a letter to the Spanish Higher Sports Council (CSD) to express their concerns.
Now, Real Madrid have decided to escalate the matter further by reaching out to the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF),according to Cadena SER.

As per the report, Real Madrid have formally sent a letter to the CONCACAF, urging it to reject the authorisation for the Villarreal – Barcelona match to take place on its territory.
This is in parallel to their efforts with the CSD, whom the Merengues are pressing for a governmental resolution on the issue.
While there has been no official response from the CSD on the matter yet, Real Madrid are seemingly exploring all possible avenues to ensure that the La Liga game does not take place outside of Spain.
It must be noted that the Spanish Footballers’ Association (AFE) is also very much against the proposal – a dream of La Liga chief Tebas.
It remains to be seen how the CONCACAF and the CSD address Real Madrid’s concerns. However, feeling directly disadvantaged by the situation, the Merengues are determined to exhaust every available avenue to block the “Miami plan.”
