Even with the upcoming presidential election acting as a slight distraction, Real Madrid are locked in for the summer ahead.

The club are on the verge of securing two new signings this week in the form of Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries, with the club also hopeful of officially appointing Jose Mourinho soon.

But according to AS, those arrivals are just the tip of the iceberg. Florentino Perez has made clear that a major squad overhaul is coming, and the window is expected to be one of the busiest in recent memory at the Bernabeu.

Defence leads the way

It is clear that defence is the main focus, as evidenced by Real Madrid’s pursuit of Konate and Dumfries.

With David Alaba gone, Eder Militao sidelined until at least late October, Antonio Rudiger’s fitness a concern and Fran Garcia expected to leave, the backline requires significant reinforcement.

Real Madrid are interested in the services of Josko Gvardiol, who could fit the profile of the second centre-back the club are looking for. However, signing him from Man City will be a tough task.

Reinforcements in other areas

Apart from defence, Real Madrid may also see new arrivals elsewhere, including Nico Paz.

The Argentine’s return from Como is considered almost certain, and he will considerably improve the team’s creative unit.

It won’t be surprising to see Real Madrid going after a new midfielder, having already been linked with moves for Enzo Fernandez and Rodri.

However, the cost of operation will be a problem unless Los Blancos are willing to settle for a cost-effective option.
