Real Madrid star: ‘I’ll retire from international football if Spain win World Cup’ | OneFootball

Real Madrid summer signing Marc Cucurella has this week revealed his surprise plans, in the case of Spain emerging triumphant from Sunday’s World Cup final.

La Roja are of course primed to play their part in international football’s grandest fixture in 24 hours’ time.

After battling their way beyond France in the tournament’s semi-finals, Luis de la Fuente’s troops have been pitted against reigning champions Argentina in the World Cup’s finale.

The aforementioned Marc Cucurella will be expected to feature from the off in the fixture, having played a starring role for Spain across the summer to date.

In the case of he and his teammates emerging on the right side of the result, though, it may be the final occasion on which the left-back pulls on the colours of his country.

Speaking during an appearance in front of the media ahead of Sunday’s showcase, Cucurella admitted:

“If we win, I will get a tattoo of De La Fuente’s face on my body, and I will announce my retirement from international football. World Cup, Euros… what else can you do? From Monday, I’d call him and tell him I’d leave it all.”
