Real Madrid star Brahim Díaz was at the heart of a moment of utter chaos on Sunday evening.

This came owing to his endeavours on the international front, in the AFCON finale showdown between Morocco and Senegal.

After the two countries could not be separated across 90 minutes, fireworks followed in injury time.

First, Senegal saw a goal controversially disallowed, for a foul on Achraf Hakimi. Then, minutes later, Morocco were awarded a penalty at the other end.

As tensions flared, Senegal’s players made the call to leave the field of play, heading back to the dressing room in protest against what they felt was a grave injustice.

After over 10 minutes of waiting, they ultimately reemerged, leaving the aforementioned Brahim Díaz to take responsibility from 12 yards.

Unfortunately for the Real Madrid man, though, his attempted ‘panenka’ was read by Eduoard Mendy, who caught the ball with ease.

The full-time whistle immediately followed, before Brahim was hooked, with Senegal having since taken the lead in extra-time.
