Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr. has taken to social media on Wednesday, to send a message of apology the way of the club’s supporters.
This comes in the aftermath of his latest emotion-filled outburst over the weekend.
En route to Real Madrid’s 2-1 La Liga victory over arch rivals Barcelona, Vinícius grabbed the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
After enjoying a stellar showing from his berth on the left wing, the Brazilian was hooked from proceedings by boss Xabi Alonso during the 2nd-half.
Absolutely bemused by his substitution, Vinícius in turn embarked on a furious rant, gesturing and shouting before making his way straight down the Santiago Bernabéu tunnel.
As much cast something of a shadow on Real’s Clásico triumph, giving rise to widespread criticism across the Spanish football landscape.
On Wednesday, Vinícius has therefore moved to own up to his mistake.
Taking to his official ‘X’ account, the 25-year-old unveiled the following heartfelt post, for the benefit of the Blancos faithful:
‘Today I want to apologize to all the Madridistas for my reaction when I was substituted in the Clásico. Just as I have already done in person during today’s training, I also want to apologize again to my teammates, the club, and the president. Sometimes passion gets the better of me because I always want to win and help my team. My competitive character stems from the love I feel for this club and everything it represents. I promise to keep fighting every second for the good of Real Madrid, as I have done since the first day.’
