Real Madrid secured the InterContinental Cup this midweek with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Mexican side Pachuca in Doha.
Kylian Mbappe was once again a star performer for Los Blancos, as he notably scored the opener while playing a key role in helping his team dominate the proceedings going forward.
Speaking to Real Madrid TV after the match, Mbappe reflected on his performance and the team’s success.
“Two finals, two goals, two titles,” he said (h/t Mundo Deportivo). “The most important thing is the titles. Goals help you win titles, but the most important thing is always the team.”
The forward pointed out the significance of the Intercontinental Cup, noting, “We won a very important title. Of the seven, we won the first two and we are on the path we want to go and we want to continue like this.”
This victory marks another positive step in what has been a mixed season for Real Madrid under their new star striker.

Looking ahead, Mbappe acknowledged the challenge of the long season but remained optimistic.
“Yes, it’s a long one. We have the Spanish Super Cup when we return from vacation, but let’s enjoy the two titles now and we’ll surely be hungry for the other five.”
Regarding his goal, which opened the scoring, Mbappe was modest but acknowledged the teamwork that led to it.
“It wasn’t the most difficult of my career, but the action was very good, with Jude [Bellingham] and Vini.”
He also touched on the other goals by Rodrygo and Vinícius Jr., which sealed the comprehensive victory, “In the second half, we scored Rodry’s second and then Vini’s penalty and we won our title.”
Mbappe has now scored 13 goals in all competitions since joining Real Madrid in the summer. But as Los Blancos embark on 2025, fans will be expecting more output from the Frenchman.
