Federico Viñas returns from a one-match suspension. Manager Veljko Paunović may consider tactical adjustments, by switching to a three-at-the-back system with Lucas Ahijado and Rahim Alhassane operating as wing-backs to counter Barcelona’s attacking threat.

Barcelona Team News

Barcelona face significant injury concerns ahead of their trip to Asturias. Fermín López has been ruled out for around three weeks after suffering a muscle injury against Getafe, while midfielder Gavi requires surgery on a knee problem and the club confirmed that he is out for at least four months.

Marc-André ter Stegen remains out with a back injury, and Alejandro Balde continues his recovery from a hamstring problem. Lamine Yamal remains a major doubt with a groin issue that has kept him sidelined for three matches, though there are positive signs regarding his recovery with the youngster returning to training with the ball. Pau Cubarsi could return after missing the Getafe match with a minor knee knock.

Hansi Flick might rotate his two centre-backs with Cubarsi and Araujo replacing Eric Garcia and Andreas Christiansen.

Form

Real Oviedo

Real Oviedo have endured a difficult start to their return to La Liga after 24 years away. Veljko Paunović’s side have managed just one victory from their opening five fixtures – a hard-fought 1-0 home win over Real Sociedad. Since then, they have suffered consecutive defeats against Getafe (2-0) and Elche (1-0), failing to find the net in either match. Goals have been a major concern for Los Azules, with just one goal scored across five league games – the lowest tally in the division.

Barcelona

Hansi Flick’s Barcelona have made an impressive start to the new campaign, remaining unbeaten in La Liga with four wins and one draw from five matches. The Catalans sit second in the table with 13 points, just behind rivals Real Madrid. Their recent form has been particularly encouraging, with back-to-back victories over Valencia (6-0) and Getafe (3-0) showcasing their attacking prowess. Ferran Torres has been in excellent form, scoring twice against Getafe to add to his growing tally this season.

Predicted Lineups

Real Oviedo: Escandell; Bailly, Carmo, Calvo; Ahijado, Dendoncker, Reina, Alhassane; Colombatto; Chaira, Rondon

Barcelona: J. Garcia; Kounde, Araujo, Cubarsi, Martin; Pedri, Olmo, Casado; Raphinha, Lewandowski, Torres
