Real Sociedad’s player ratings from their meeting with Alavés centre on Oskarsson, who headed them 3-2 up on 60 minutes. Kubo returned after a long lay-off, while a mixed defensive display and a late red card framed the night.
As reported by AS, Remiro was not helped by those ahead of him, yet seemed he could have done more with the goals conceded. Aramburu was solid on the right and Aritz, back as captain, impressed before leaving after 85 minutes with cramps. Caleta-Car had a torrid night, scoring an own goal, almost netting at the other end, and making further errors.
Sergio Gómez went close in the first half, moved higher once Aihen entered, then was sent off in stoppage time.
Turrientes’ poor clearance led to Alavés’ second, part of a burst that brought them two goals inside 24 minutes, before he redeemed himself with a long-range strike later credited as a Sivera own goal. Soler read the game well, while Brais was quiet, taken off on 52 after an early tame effort.
Sucic struck brilliantly for 1-1, repeatedly arriving in the box with quality, then shifted inside when Kubo came on and faded late. Barrenetxea was intermittently dangerous, nearly scoring on 35, and was withdrawn at half-time to manage his workload.
Oskarsson was subdued before the break against a compact Alavés, then came alive with that decisive header and later saw a sharp turn and shot blocked. He departed to a warm ovation, supporters singing Café y Ron with the final in sight.
From the bench, Guedes replaced Barrenetxea at the interval and fired one from range wide, less incisive than in recent outings. Kubo, applauded back for his first minutes since mid-January, swiftly laid on Oskarsson’s goal, while Marín grafted without a clear sight and Aihen shored things up.
