Regis Le Bris has brushed off scrutiny over his job security, despite leading Sunderland up via the Championship play-offs last season and overseeing a strong return. After 33 games they are 11th, four points off the top six, which may yet be enough for Champions League football.

According to talkSPORT, Le Bris could be sacked if he fails to secure continental qualification, a claim quickly dismissed.

The Frenchman was relaxed when asked, saying his position is always open to discussion but that he feels closely aligned with the club.

On win rate alone he sits at 40.9%, which looks lower mid-table but compares well. He is ahead of Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola and Everton manager David Moyes.

Sunderland have not been routinely beaten either, with 12 wins, 10 draws and 11 defeats in the league so far.
