Arsenal’s reported summer interest in three Real Madrid stars – Eduardo Camavinga, Arda Guler and Rodrygo – as revealed by DefensaCentral, is more than just speculative transfer noise. It reflects a club keen to reassert itself not only domestically but as a European powerhouse.
This is not just Arteta shopping in Madrid. It’s an Arsenal hierarchy sending a message to the footballing elite: the Gunners are back at the top table and ready to dine like giants.
Eduardo Camavinga, the 22-year-old dynamo, has long been regarded as one of the continent’s finest young midfielders. His ability to anchor the midfield, break lines and even deputise at left-back would make him a priceless asset for Arsenal – especially with doubts hanging over Thomas Partey and Jorginho.
But it’s Rodrygo, the Brazilian livewire, who catches the eye most. His flair, unpredictability, and efficiency in front of goal have earned him high praise, including from teammate Jude Bellingham who called him “the most talented and gifted player” at Madrid. Arsenal’s pursuit of such a player underlines a serious evolution in their recruitment – one that blends star power with substance.
Arda Guler, dubbed ‘the Turkish Messi’, has endured a frustrating spell at Madrid. Signed from Fenerbahce for £17m in 2023, his career has stalled amidst injuries and a crowded Galactico midfield.

For Arsenal, this could be the perfect opportunity. Mesut Ozil once hailed Guler’s talent, and the 20-year-old’s technical quality and vision make him an ideal profile for Arteta’s possession-based philosophy. It’s a move that carries risk, yes – but also huge upside.
With reports suggesting Real Madrid could be willing to cash in on both Rodrygo and Guler, Arsenal may feel this is a moment to strike. The presence of Mikel Arteta – who has shown he can nurture talent like Martin Ødegaard and Bukayo Saka – only strengthens that case.
This is where the plot thickens. Madrid spent a combined £91m on these three players. They’ll not just want their money back – they’ll want profit. Florentino Perez, not exactly known for charity, will make the final call on their futures.
And despite the romanticism of this triple swoop, can Arsenal genuinely afford all three? Even with Champions League money and a now-consistent financial model, going toe-to-toe with Madrid’s valuation is an expensive gamble.
Moreover, Camavinga is described as “not such a clear target to leave,” indicating Madrid’s reluctance to sell. Rodrygo has declared publicly he wants to stay at the Bernabéu, living his dream. Arsenal may find doors closing before they even knock.
From an Arsenal fan’s lens, this report is tantalising. It’s everything you want from a summer transfer rumour – elite talent, European glamour, and a sense of upward trajectory. But it’s also sobering.
Yes, Camavinga would be an upgrade on Partey. Yes, Rodrygo could elevate Arsenal’s front line into something close to world-class. And yes, Guler’s ceiling is huge. But to land even one of them feels like a stretch – three seems fantastical.
Still, this sort of rumour is where modern Arsenal lives now. Not as plucky underdogs, but as power brokers. Being linked to top Real Madrid names is the clearest indicator yet that Arsenal are respected again.
There’s also a tactical angle. Arteta wants intelligent, multi-functional players. Rodrygo can float wide or centrally. Camavinga is a press-resistant machine. Guler is raw but uniquely creative. Each would fit the system beautifully.
So while this may never come off, the message is clear: Arsenal believe they belong in conversations with the best. And that belief is infectious.
