Barcelona moved ahead of the curve to secure the signing of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United, days after the 2025/26 season came to a close.

The Catalan club and Deco moved with utmost precision, carrying out negotiations with the Magpies at jet pace and announcing him as a Barca player before too long.

Since then, Barcelona’s summer plans have changed on a daily basis, with different names doing the rounds, and the latest one to join the list is PSG’s Bradley Barcola.

The Paris Saint-Germain winger could leave the French champions this summer after losing prominence under Luis Enrique, and his situation has naturally attracted attention across Europe.

According to SPORT, Barcola has a lot of suitors, especially in the Premier League, but Barcelona are not among the clubs actively pushing for his signing.

That distinction matters. Barca are always expected to watch elite young attackers, and Barcola clearly has the profile to interest top clubs.

However, considering the club already have Raphinha and Gordon to play in that position, it would make little sense for them to position themselves actively for Barcola.

Gordon signing changes the equation

Barcelona have already made their major investment on the wing with Anthony Gordon. That move has reshaped the club’s attacking plans.

After securing the English winger, the priority is no longer another wide forward but a natural centre-forward, with Julian Alvarez still considered the main dream target.

This is why Barcola, despite his talent, does not currently fit the short-term plan. His price could go beyond €70 million.

Barcelona are unlikely to commit that level of money to a position they have already strengthened.

Premier League looks more likely

It almost looks certain that the Premier League will be Barcola’s next destination, with clubs such as Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United having already contacted his camp.

Barcola is currently focused on the World Cup with France, so there is not expected to be an immediate decision on his future.

PSG, meanwhile, may need his sale to help finance attacking reinforcements of their own, although they generally are not a club forced to operate like that in the market.

Barcola is an exciting player whom Barca may and should have considered had they not signed Gordon, but moving for him now would just be overkill.

Unless something dramatic changes, Barca’s attack plan is clear: Gordon has filled the wing need, and the next major effort should be directed towards a No. 9.
