Talented Chelsea youngster Shim Mheuka is unlikely to be loaned out in January for first team opportunities according to reports.
Mheuka is one of the biggest talents in the Chelsea academy currently, and the striker was handed his first team debut by Enzo Maresca last season.
The 17-year-old has made six first team appearances, with his only appearance this season coming against Lincoln in the Carabao Cup.
Mheuka has been in brilliant form for Chelsea’s under-19 side and has ten goals in ten appearances in all competitions, including a hat-trick against Benfica in the Uefa Youth League.
The striker faces stiff competition for minutes in the first team given the Blues have Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Marc Guiu on their books, whilst Chelsea don’t have the luxury of the Conference League this season to give youngsters minutes.

Mheuka is clearly getting to a point where he needs to be playing first team football, but according to journalist Dom Smith, the Blues aren’t planning to loan the youngster out this season.
“It’s certainly something they’ll keep an open dialogue over. I wonder if he might benefit, for the remaining six months, remaining at Chelsea and being in the youth team, continuing his numbers,” he told Football Insider.
“In the next couple of seasons, I can definitely see a loan somewhere else.
“It would cost a club a lot of money if they wanted to buy him outright, and only if they feel his potential is flatlining and that they can make some money in the market, but I think that is really unlikely.
“They see him as a player who can make the first team. They don’t want to pile too much pressure on, but a loan would be a natural next step. But I wonder if January is too early for that.”
It’s hard to see where the opportunities in the first team are coming from this season, outside of the early rounds of the domestic cups, but Smith revealed Mheuka trains with the first team more than any other youngster.

“My understanding is that he trains with the first team more than any other youth player.
“For that to be the case at 17, his progress is already stratospheric. The question is, when do you send him on loan? Chelsea will have been having those conversations for a while, and they will continue to do so. It’s only a matter of when.”
