Rafael Louzan, president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), has attempted to calm the growing noise around the increasing number of injured players returning from international duty.
Barcelona have once again fallen victim to what many refer to as the “FIFA Virus”, as several of their key players have picked up injuries while representing their countries.
In the last two international callups, both Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo have returned from international breaks nursing fitness issues.
The most recent case involved Ferran Torres, who was released early from Spain’s camp.
Fortunately for the Catalan club, the issue was only muscle overload, and early assessments indicated that there was no serious concern regarding his condition.
Seeking to avoid unnecessary disputes between clubs and the federation, Louzan addressed the matter before Spain’s clash against Bulgaria.
“There may be opinions that must be respected, without a doubt, but I want to avoid any kind of controversy,” said Louzan, who stressed that the relationship with the clubs is “practically perfect.”
He added, “Right now, there is extraordinary coordination with the sporting directors of each of the clubs in Spain, as well as at the international level.

“I can only be very grateful for the effort that the clubs make because, in the end, they are the ones who sign the players.”
Louzan made it clear that the working relationship between the national team and clubs remains strong, dismissing any claims of tension.
“The atmosphere between the parties, players, clubs, and the national team is extraordinary,” he said.
“There may sometimes be questions of interpretation or opinion that must be respected, but beyond that, I am not going to fuel any kind of controversy because there is none.
“We are in a good moment, the national team is playing extraordinarily well.”
The federation president also called for mutual understanding, underlining the spirit of cooperation between all involved.
“I know we have to talk about a little bit of everything, but the truth is, the first thing is the general satisfaction of the clubs,” he concluded.
With Barcelona dealing with a series of injuries this season, Louzan’s words are clearly aimed at easing the ongoing frustration clubs like the Blaugrana are facing.
