Rob Edwards believes Andre’s new four-year contract underlines Wolves’ intent to push for an immediate Premier League return after relegation.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, the club confirmed on Friday that the midfielder has committed to Wolves until 2030, confounding expectations of a summer departure.
Edwards described Andre as a model professional who has grown into a leader, and said his technical quality and potential were clear. He welcomed having him in the Championship but stressed the level cannot be disrespected.
Edwards said the midfielder has repeatedly expressed a desire to stay and help, adding that keeping top players who want to fight shows intent. He said talks with Andre had been extensive and that this is the start of what he hopes will be a positive summer, with plans to build a strong team.
Chairman Nathan Shi said discussions had been ongoing for some time. Andre has made 74 Wolves appearances since joining, helping the club survive in the Premier League, and he had attracted interest from other clubs despite the drop.
Technical director Matt Jackson said Andre had committed early to the project and was a man of his word, reflecting the calibre of player the club want.
