The future of Robert Lewandowski at FC Barcelona has become a major topic of speculation in recent weeks.
After all, the 37-year-old superstar striker is out of contract at the club in June and there have been no talks of an extension.
It has even sparked rumours of a January departure or possible retirement at the end of the season – both of which have been dismissed by his agent, Pini Zahavi.
Now, in an interview with TVP Sport (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Lewandowski has acknowledged that, at 37, his career is entering its final chapters and that he will make a decision on his next move soon.
The striker, who has scored 108 goals since joining Barcelona in 2022, explained that he is thinking things through calmly and is in no hurry.
“I’m calm. I don’t know where I’ll be or what I’ll want to do in a few months. I don’t have to do anything and I’m in no hurry,” Lewandowski stated.
“I’ll soon be ready to decide which path I want to take and I’ll see what my options are,” he affirmed.
After more than a decade in Germany playing for Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, Lewandowski admitted:
“The move to Barcelona and life in a different culture also changed me.”
“The birth of my daughters began to crack the shell I had built up over many years,” he added.
Playing at Barcelona alongside academy graduates as young and talented as Lamine Yamal is a motivation for a veteran like Lewandowski.

“It really encourages me to know that there are so many young guys over 18 at Barcelona. They give me a real boost of energy. I feel very comfortable among them,” explained Lewandowski.
“I remember when I was a teenager and what I did at their age. I’m older than the parents of some of my teammates. They treat me like a father. It’s funny, but very positive,” he added.
Last season, he scored 42 goals with Barcelona, helping the club win La Liga, the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey. Reflecting on the successful campaign, he elaborated:
“It’s an individual competition, and I play a team sport. The team sometimes helps us score goals or win titles. Last season was very successful for me. I scored a lot of goals and won several trophies, which confirms that my level of play was very high.”
The veteran superstar also revealed how he wished to make the most of what is left of his career, not only in the sporting sense but also emotionally.
“After so many years at the highest level, with pressure and expectations, there were times when I needed an external stimulus. I had to reconnect with new emotions. Over time, I gained a new perspective on many things,” remarked Lewandowski.
“My career is nearing its end, but while I’m still playing football, I want to make the most of it, not only in sporting terms but also emotionally. I want to enjoy the moment and get the most out of it,” he reflected.
