Roma resisted the temptation of cashing in on Manu Koné last summer, when Inter in particular attempted to lure him away, but they’ll face further threats in the near future, and PSG in particular is keeping an eye on him, Corriere dello Sport informs.
The midfielder has also been excellent while featuring with France this campaign. Since he moved to the Italian capital, the Giallorossi have struggled whenever he wasn’t in the XI. Coach Gian Piero Gasperini has stuck with the duo formed by him and Bryan Cristante in the midfield, as they lift each other up.
PSG could have a better chance of meeting Roma’s lofty price tag for Koné, especially if they act before June 30th. Inter swooped in during the previous window after abandoning their pursuit of Ademola Lookman. However, they faced a €50M request, and the talks didn’t proceed to the final stages after a jump-start.
The player has kept the door open to a future transfer in recent remarks. If the French champions proposed €60M right after the end of the season, the Giallorossi would have a hard time turning down the offer due to their FFP problems. However, there’s a long way to go before that. A strong season and qualifying for the Champions League would help with their obligations.
If he scored a little more, he’d probably be on a super-duper team already, as he’s dominant and has made a big leap during his short amount of time in the Peninsula. It would be pretty routine if Roma decided to ease their financial worries with one giant sale, but it’d be detrimental to the team’s ambitions.
