Former Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will break his silence on his sale of the club in a new book to be released this summer.

Abramovich purchased Chelsea in 2003 and oversaw two trophy-laden decades at Stamford Bridge, but was forced to sell the club in 2022 after being sanctioned by the UK Government due to alleged links to Russian president Vladimir Putin.

He has now has conducted a two-part interview for a book about the £4.25billion sale of Chelsea to an American consortium led by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.

They are Abramovich’s first public interviews since he spoke to Forbes shortly before selling Chelsea. Before that, he had not spoken publicly since 2006.

Set to be released in late May, ‘Sanctioned The Inside Story of the Sale of Chelsea FC’ is set to tell the full story of the sale to Boehly and Clearlake, which was completed in just 95 days.

Proceeds from the sale of Chelsea were due to be allocated to humanitarian efforts in Ukraine, but those funds remain frozen.

The book will reportedly include Abramovich’s account of Chelsea’s sanctions, his involvement in peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, and his suspected poisoning in 2022.

Abramovich can no longer enter the UK due to his sanctions, and was last seen at a Chelsea match at the 2021 Champions League final in Porto.

Chelsea won five Premier League titles and one Champions League title during Abramovich’s ownership.
