Roma flew right back into the race for the Serie A’s top four, picking up a very dramatic 3-2 win against Parma away from home.

Unsurprisingly, Donyell Malen was among the goals again. While he scored twice from the penalty spot, his timing of the goals was key. He scored first in the tie to give Roma the lead in the first-half and then scored from the spot in the 11th minute of stoppage time at the very end, marking a thrilling conclusion to the tie.

He has now taken his Serie A goalscoring tally to 13, finding the net six times in the last five games. That also includes a hat-trick, playing a huge role in Roma’s Champions League challenge.

Permanent deal all but set

As things stand, Roma have an obligation to buy Malen from Aston Villa at the end of the loan but it is conditional, if they qualify for Europe. But there have been indications that even if Roma do not make it to Europe, they have decided to sign him permanently.

The approval from the Friedkin ownership has arrived, with Aston Villa set to receive €25 million from the deal.

The Dutchman is going down as one of the best Roma signings in recent memory, breaking records every game.
