The question had to come: Liam Rosenior’s team have conceded from corners 7 times since he took over, and they’ve gone from a moderate record to a really poor one defending set pieces.

To his credit, the Chelsea coach didn’t duck the quey about what had “changed” since he came in:

“It’s a great question. I think it’s me. I said last week I’m learning about the group, and I’m learning about certain people in certain positions. The actual scheme hasn’t changed up until this week, in terms of how we go about that. But it’s something that’s come into our game, which is something that’s costing us points, and that we need to change very quickly.”

Largely people have let Rosenior and his predecessors off the hook when it comes to defending set pieces, because the squad they’ve been given isn’t particularly tall or good in the air.

Frustrated Rosenior on continued errors

Liam Rosenior complains about Chelsea discipline.

Chelsea’s attempts to turn back into a serious team in the Premier League are best summed up by their dire record against Arsenal. Ill-discipline, weak mentalities and inexperience return week after week.

The last few games have been enough to make any fan tear their hair out. The good moments in the games just make the bad moments all the more frustrating. This is now a group that’s largely been together a while, and they still don’t have the feeling of a team that’s headed for the top.
