Chelsea fans were rather split over Enzo Maresca, but one thing they were all aligned on is that they wanted to see more of Josh Acheampong.
The Italian coach kept favouring the likes of Tosin Adarabioyo over him, despite the teenager’s immense talent. It seems like Liam Rosenior is going to actually trust him. The defender has started four games in a row now, and while we don’t expect him to start on Saturday, there should be more opportunities to come.

Liam Rosenior speaks on Chelsea TV.
“I’ve been so impressed with Josh so far in the last two games and in training,” Rosenior said in quotes picked up by the club’s official website.
“He’s a very level-headed kid with a lot of humility, which is a great sign. The beautiful thing with Josh is that he can play five different positions. He can play on the left, he can play centre-back, he can play right centre-back, he can play midfield, he can play on the wing. That’s a great thing to have for a player of his age and temperament.
“And I’m going to keep pushing him and I’m going to keep demanding different things from him because he has a really, really bright future.”
We should bear in mind that Maresca was also good at saying the right things about Acheampong, and just rarely backed it up. Let’s hope Rosenior is not all talk.
Maresca was popular and respected by the players – Liam Rosenior now has to earn that same status. According to Trevoh Chalobah, that process is already underway.
The manager made some big claims about his philosophy of team selection – we’re interested to see whether he can back up those words in a very difficult environment.
