South African tactician Rulani Mokwena has voiced his displeasure with Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos' comments about Thembinkosi Lorch.
The Belgian mentor was subject to criticism for snubbing the in-form Wydad Athletic forward in his Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) squad, including the preliminary team.
As a result, he hit back at critics, stating that Lorch is a shadow of his former self, hence he was ‘kicked’ out at Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.
Mokwena, who is in charge of Algerian champions MC Alger, has taken issue with Broos' comments on the player and how the veteran tactician constantly mentions his name in relation to Lorch.
“There are many comments that Hugo launches and name drops my name, which also I don't like, but I will address that with him personally instead of using the radio to address these things, especially when he has to speak about Lorch,” he told Andile Ncube on SNAWA.
"Lorch being thrown out, Rulani picked him up and this - some of these things, it's very difficult to comment [on] because sometimes I'm emotional about them but I love the country, I love the players, I think we've got an incredible country, an incredible pool of players.
"The coach has been doing an incredible job but I think we misrepresented ourselves in this AFCON and there's a lot of reasons why. I think the staff and the technical staff, the association and the coach have enough intelligence around them to be able to find reasons.
Notably, Mokwena worked with Lorch at three different clubs, including Pirates, before signing him when he was at the helm at Sundowns and Wydad.
