In our last entry we explained it was the last time we’d be discussing Russell Martin. We said that as much out of frustration as anything else, because unfortunately the damage he did to Rangers was so vast that we do have to digest it a little more. Russell Martin cons Rangers.

Admiration

And in a perverse sort of way we admire Russell Martin.

Yes, you read that right.

How?

Because this absolute charlatan who has no business being a football manager and was a pretty crap player as well has conned two professional football clubs out of £6M combined.

Swindle

Not only did he swindle Southampton into giving him a new deal that he knew would secure his financial future (July 2024), but he managed to persuade the idiots at Ibrox to give him another one.

In two pieces of smart business over the course of 11 months, Martin duped both Southampton and Rangers into giving him bumper deals he had no business getting and once it was time to be fired £3M was his a time.

You have to admire that level of manipulation, and it’s hard to knock the guy for seizing the opportunity to make money.

Russell Martin had no interest in being Rangers manager, but he had huge interest in the bumper paycheque getting fired would give him.

And now he sits pretty, £6M better off after Southampton fired him amid a three-year extension, and Rangers then did the same.

Laughing

The man is laughing all the way to the bank having effectively won the lottery.

He was fired from every job he had, and now the Russell Martin school of getting rich quick is closed for business.

Using wordsworth and canny lines, he’s conned football boards into giving him a major payday.

And it’s hard not to admire the sheer confidence in ones self to do that.

Rewarded

End of the day, Russell Martin lives for himself, and he’s been rewarded for a smart brain to pull the wool over at least two well-paying clubs’ eyes.

No wonder he literally doesn’t look like he cares.

Thing is, he’s gonna give it another go, and this time it’s Luton who could be victims after Russell Martin cons Rangers.

And we say good luck to him. If they are as dumb as Rangers’ board was, they deserve everything they get.
