Santos extend long away drought in Brasileirão after 3-2 defeat at Grêmio | OneFootball

Santos squandered another chance to claim their first away win of the Brasileirão, losing 3-2 at Grêmio after leading twice in Porto Alegre on Saturday.

The result extends their winless away sequence in the league to eight matches, comprising four draws and four defeats. Their last away success in the competition was on 3 December 2025, a 3-0 victory over Juventude at Alfredo Jaconi, when Neymar hit a hat-trick.

The run began on the opening weekend, and since then performances have fluctuated without turning into wins on the road.

Away from Vila Belmiro this season they have drawn with Mirassol 2-2, Cruzeiro 0-0, Bahia 2-2 and Palmeiras 1-1. Defeats have come against Chapecoense 4-2, Athletico Paranaense 2-1, Flamengo 3-1 and Grêmio 3-2.

That haul amounts to four points from 24 available away, a 16.6% return, with 11 goals scored and 17 conceded.

Cuca’s side now have two home fixtures before the World Cup break, Deportivo Cuenca on Tuesday in the Copa Sudamericana then Vitória on Saturday in the league. Their next away match is scheduled only after the World Cup, closing the first round against Botafogo at Estádio Nilton Santos in round 19, with date and kick-off still to be set by the CBF.
