São Paulo’s city hall has rejected Nubank’s plan for a large LED panel on Palmeiras’ stadium facade, citing rules on luminous electronic signs, according to Nosso Palestra.

The Municipal Secretariat of Urbanism and Licensing denied the request on 28 April, saying such devices are allowed only in enclosed internal areas under Municipal Law 14.223/2006, which bars external luminous panels.

Documents outline a temporary activation with the screen mounted outside, facing the pools, around 120 m from the Av. Antártica and Rua Palestra Itália railings and 27.17 m above ground. The display would measure 41 m by six m, a 246 m² area.

Content would alternate the NU logo and the phrase "Nubank Parque Felipe de La Rosa". The proposal describes a participatory action showing names of users pre-registered on a digital platform, with examples merely illustrative.

Nubank has agreed to buy the naming rights to Palmeiras’ stadium and will replace Allianz, which has held them since 2014. The insurer’s contract was due to run until 2034.

Next up, Palmeiras face Santos in the Brasileirão on 2 May at 18:30 Brasília time.
