While his future remains uncertain, Maurizio Sarri will expect the Lazio management to satisfy his transfer demands if he is to stay at the club.

The Background

The 67-year-old has described this campaign as the most challenging of his career, as he had to lead the squad in the eye of the storm. The Biancocelesti weren’t allowed to make any signings last summer, and the hierarchy then sold a few key players in January, much to the manager’s dismay.

The Tuscan was involved in a back-and-forth public spat with Lazio president Claudio Lotito. Fortunately for Lazio, the two men have recently declared a truce, perhaps helped by the team’s improved results and the delightful Coppa Italia run.

Maurizio Sarri Asks Lazio to Bolster Four Departments

The Aquile will take on Inter Milan in the final on May 13, and Il Corriere dello Sport expects crunch talks to take place between Lotito and Sarri shortly following the big showdown. If the two parties decide to extend their collaboration beyond the current campaign, the head will be expecting at least four new signings.

Replacing Mario Gila & Alessio Romagnoli

As the Roman newspaper explains, Sarri will ask for a new centre-back should Alessio Romagnoli or Mario Gila leave the club. If Lazio end up selling both defenders, then the manager will request a couple of new additions to the department.

Sarri Needs One or Two New Midfielders

In the middle of the park, Sarri is still waiting for Matteo Guendouzi’s replacement, insisting that Kenneth Taylor was supposed to complement the Frenchman rather than inherit his role. If Toma Basic doesn’t renew his contract, then two new central midfielders will be required.

Lazio Also Seeking a Winger & Striker

The former Napoli and Chelsea boss is also waiting for the arrival of a winger capable of supporting Mattia Zaccagni on the left flank. Another addition to the department will be needed if the club chooses to cash in on Gustav Isaksen.

Finally, Sarri is eyeing a new centre-forward, as Petar Ratkov and Daniel Maldini haven’t been able to add goals following their arrivals in January.
